Our Story...
It is impossible to remember the exact date we met. We both went to the same middle school, and even hung out with the same crowd in middle
school. He was a shy quiet boy that kept mostly to himself. He was a part of the boy scouts and did not participate in many after school activities. I was the more loud and obnoxious type that always had something to do or say. I played a different sport every season, was involved in many school clubs and was part of a youth group at church. It wasn't until high school that we started to notice each other. Specifically 11th Grade. We had multiple classes together; History, Chemistry and Algebra. During free time in these classes I began to talk to Nick. I often times copied his Chemistry homework and we always worked together in Algebra. In History class I always "stole" his iPod Touch in order to play doodle jump in hopes of beating his high score. These little flirtatious moments brought us closer together and we began to form a friendship. In April of 2009 Nick was going on the Italy trip with the school, I jokingly asked him to bring me back a gift. Little did I know he actually would! He brought me a postcard back, yeah it was nothing big but hey at least he thought of me!
The following month we went on our junior class trip to Boston. The bus ride there was long and boring, I left my group of friends to go back and sit with Nick. Why? for his iPod of course! The few days we were in Boston I only really spent one evening with Nick and that was on the dinner dance cruise in the harbor. We talked for a bit and got to know each other a little more as we watched the sunset over the water. The next day we left to come home and I sat with him the entire bus ride home. We shared a bag of skittles (corney, I know!), and played iPod games. He had me smiling and laughing the entire ride home. I started to realize how much I was starting to like this kid. However we were complete opposites and I wasn't sure how I was going to explain to all my friends that I was starting to have feeling for this little 4.5ft 95lb kid who wore oversized black comic book shirts and who was smart in every subject! I then realized, who cares, he makes me happy and I am willing to pursue this relationship and see if I can make him feel the same way about me as I do about him.
After multiple night of texting we decided to make it official on May, 21st 2009. at first when we told people we were dating no one believed us. Like I said we were COMPLETE opposites! Like I thought we would do, we began to grow on each other and the more we hung out the more we fell in love. We spent everyday together: going to parks, playing video games, shopping at the mall, walking the dogs, going to the movies etc. We always had something to do together. After High school we went away to college. This was the hardest part. This is the time most couples end their relationships and then begin new ones. Not us, we stayed strong through it all. Although we went to school an hour away from home, fate helped us by placing us at colleges 15 minutes apart from each other!
After college we found jobs in the area of our hometown and both lived separately with our parents. At this point in our lives the only thing we loved more than each other was going on vacations and adventures together. We went back to Boston. We visited Las Vegas, California, Outer Banks, Florida beaches, we even went on a cruise to St Maarten, St Kitts and Puerto Rico! This is when I started to think about "The Ring". Every place we went I was suspicious. Is this the place? Will he do it here? Do I look okay? When I finally started to give up thinking about when where and how it would happen, he finally popped the question! We were on Vacation with his family.
We visited Las Vegas for a few days then began the drive to California. We looked up online little unique places we could stop along the way to make for a more interesting road trip. We stopped at this place called "Seven Magic Mountains." after exploring the location we stopped to pose for a photo op. As Nick's brother went to take our photo Nick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was shocked! My response:"Are you serious?!?!" (Like I said I was shocked! I have been waiting for this moment for what seem like forever!) I then immediately replied "Yes!" That day I was so excited to all my friends and family. They too have been waiting for this moment!
Later I asked Nick why he chose that location over any other. He responded by telling me how The seven magic mountains was an art project that was set up during the month of May (the month of the year we started dating), there were seven mountains (one for each year we had been dating), and it was a cute unique place that would later be taken down therefore it would be special to us as not many people could say the got engaged in the middle of the desert next to bright colorful rocks!
Since the engagement we purchased our first house together and started minor renovations in order to transform it into our home. We continue to go on adventures as well as smaller vacations as we prepare and plan for the wedding of our dreams!
